Merry Christmas little monsters!

A previously unheard Gaga song entitled, “Take Me Out” has surfaced and I have to say, it’s incredibly cute!

Sounding like a mash up between The Talking Head’s “Bringing Down The House” and “Pop Muzik” by M (the 1979 pop culture statement by British musician Robin Scott which is also briefly sampled in the cut), Gaga’s vocals flutter over this 80′s tinged track, packed with an overwhelmingly catchy melody and slightly odd ball lyrics that would make even David Byrne proud.

However, it’s painfully obvious why this demo wasn’t developed further, considering it would have been awkwardly placed within the grittier sounds of Born This Way. If anything, it heralds the days of a “young” Lady Gaga, and maybe would have been a better fit around “The Fame” era.

I must say it is refreshing to hear her a little less serious and more relaxed. Take a listen below!

**EDIT: Upon further investigating, it turns out this track was actually written during The Fame era, explaining it sonically and lyrically. It’s unknown if this song is the song Gaga was planning to release on Christmas. I’m assuming it’s not, considering I was under the impression she was releasing a track recorded on her tour bus during the Born This Way sessions. Apparently more demos are also making their way online as of publication of this post.

It’s been an interesting roller coaster of emotions the past few months as my current queen Rihanna has embarked on her sixth album era for Talk That Talk. Received critically and commercially well, the first single We Found Love has been perched on top of the Billboard Hot 100 for EIGHT weeks now (suck it LMFAO). Since its ascent, the entire album has released, bringing forth rave reviews from certain critics (and fairly positive ones from most others), however has been selling considerably less than desired in the US despite behemoth single to back it up.

It seems Def Jam wants to keep us in this glass case by releasing “You Da One” as the second single from the album, a Dr. Luke produced/Ester Dean scribed ditty that would have been better left an album cut or off the record completely in my opinion (replaced by the beautifully fluffy deluxe track “Do Ya Thang“). For the video they have brought in hit and miss visionary Melina to direct the video, which has its low and high points respectively. The video mysteriously apparated (yes, that is a sad Harry Potter reference) on Vevo last night around the very early morning hours, immediately trending WW on Twitter.

The video itself is classic Melina, a bit of a return to the Rated R style she had implemented for Rihanna in “Rude Boy” and especially “Rockstar 101“, for the which the latter could have served as a prequel to the YDO video. I love Rihanna, but she can quite frankly do better. I blame in part Melina who has been given more creative control this era after the success of the beautiful masterpiece that was the We Found Love video. Granted, I’m not sure what I would have been able to come up with for the single, especially when given an actress who quite literally filmed the entire thing on one hour of sleep (seriously Rihanna, get some rest). Rihanna is slightly more lethargic than normal, opting for crotch grabs every 2.5 seconds instead of any organized “choreography” or blocking, although I was very much in love with the close up scenes of her with the smoke and the really short blonde hair. I also really enjoyed the beautiful scenes on the floor with the shadow/light patterns projected on her, looking like some sort of gorgeous blonde space geisha (that’s a thing, right?)

As for the blonde hair, I LOVE it, even though I’m pretty sure a majority of everyone else doesn’t.

Ultimately though, it’s not a bad video per say, but it feels as if the single and video are severely decapitating the strong momentum We Found Love created. But who knows, maybe I could be wrong and Rihanna could be looking at another top 5 hit?

All I have to say is, it’s time for a new director for the next single, which BETTER be WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN. If that video isn’t the best of her career, I’m going to have a few choice things to say.

View the video below and see for yourself.

Hey all! My name is Paul and this is my cozy little music blog. I used to have a blog called “Riot Music”, but it sort of died out in the midst of all the college brouhaha I’ve been immersed in this past year. I have no intentions of setting out to be a famous blogger socialite, spreading my time between sharing mimosas with Lindsay Lohan at the morgue and getting a new weave with Courtney Stodden. Instead, I’m just using this blog as a way to gloriously celebrate the new Madonna album (tentatively titled: Your Faves Could Never), and critique my arch rival Beyonce’s latest $3 music video consisting mainly of pussy popping and over done facial expressions, without having to create lengthy Facebook statuses or be constrained to a choking 180 characters on Twitter.

I worship at the House of Cher, Rihanna is my greatest obsession, and sometimes I’ll write about amazing pop legends you no longer care about (see: Fleetwood Mac, Garbage, Sarah McLachlan) and new artists you’ve never even heard of. This also, unfortunately, is not a place for politically correct reviews and unbiased opinions. If I want to hate Lady Gaga’s newest try hard single cover for no apparent reason, I will, and will gladly appropriate a weave snatching gif to anyone with a problem. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. It is pop music after all, so try not to take anything too personally.

Actual posts including gossip, reviews and news will be coming in the next few days, it’s just taken a while to get everything set up and ready to go! I’ll reiterate that I don’t want to be a famous blogger or any of that nonsense, but if a few people enjoy reading my every little irrational and neurotic thought on pop music, then so be it.

If you think you can stand seeing my thoughts on a daily (hourly) basis, you can follow my twitter here!

*As for the title of the blog, “NEON TUSK”, Tusk is the name of the criminally underrated 1979 Fleetwood Mac opus of the same name, which happens to be one of of my favorite FM albums ever. I then added neon because, well let’s face it, have you ever seen a music video with neon lights that wasn’t amazing?
